MAKING THE GRADE: District 2 celebrates ‘Commendable’ schools on 2024 Illinois Report Card

Progress reflects investments in data-driven instruction!

The Illinois State Board of Education has released the 2024 Illinois Report Cards. Bensenville School District 2 is proud to celebrate that all three of our schools have earned a Commendable Designation. This designation is based on several indicators: academic achievement/growth, attendance rates, and the 5 Essentials Survey.

These gains reflect the District’s investments in providing tailored opportunities for learning through a responsive instruction and assessment system. The staff has worked hard to analyze multiple data sources to continuously refine instructional practices to address both student strengths and areas for growth. This data-driven approach has allowed us to focus our teachers’ Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) on ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed through equitable learning and growth opportunities. Additional highlights from the 2024 Illinois Report Card include:

  • BSD2 students exceeded the state growth percentile average in both English/language arts and math.

  • BSD2 students with IEPs or 504 Plans outperformed the growth of other students within that demographic across the state in both English/language arts and math.

  • BSD2 English Language Learners had a higher than average growth rate in English/language arts than the average growth of ELs across the state.

"The growth we’ve achieved over the past year is truly inspiring!" said Dr. Katie McCluskey, BSD2 Superintendent of Schools. "Our dedicated staff has worked together, responding to students’ needs and implementing effective strategies to drive student growth. I commend both our students and staff for their incredible efforts, and I eagerly anticipate the bright future that lies ahead."

The Illinois Report Card provides the school community with an opportunity to reflect on last year’s strengths and on areas for continuous improvement. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, we remain dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment. As we continue to evaluate and improve our practices, we remain focused on our mission to inspire, challenge, and empower all students to reach their full potential.

We will share more details during our Student Performance Report at the upcoming Board of Education meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 20.
