Tioga Fifth Grade Field Trip to The Grove

FIFTH GRADERS VISIT THE GROVE: Fifth graders at Tioga enjoyed a field trip to The Grove National Historic Landmark in Glenview. Students learned more about how American pioneers lived, tried various pioneer tools, made rope and candles, and learned about visionary horticulturist and educator Dr. John Kennicot, whose family migrated from New Orleans to settle on the 123-acre prairie homestead in 1836. The field trip connected to the students’ study and writing about American pioneers and the westward expansion.
